"A Breath of Fresh Air"

After so many recent overcast days and plentiful rain, we were privileged to have some sunshine today!! Sunshine -- so scarce during the winter months -- always makes my heart happy this time of year. The sun shone brightly all day, and the temperatures warmed up to the point that we decided to turn off the heat and open the windows of the house. What a pleasure that was! We took our dog for a walk this evening, and saw quite a few neighbors out in their yards, also enjoying the long-waited-for sunshine and warmth.
Now that it's quite late in the evening, it has cooled off outside, yet we still have our windows open. I can hear the call of tree frogs outside, and I am still enjoying the smell of that beautiful spring air wafting in through the windows.
And that is what inspired me to write this happy Haiku poem tonight:
"Breath of fresh air" is
Not metaphoric today;
Spring air fills our home.

Sunshine and fresh air feels like a cleansing--even after the temperature dips. I'm longing for warmer, drier days, too.
ReplyDeleteThe days are going back and forth between warm and cool, with more cloudy/rainy days than sunny. I know that eventually the warm, sunny days will be here to stay...and that's what keeps me going. :-)
