SOL20 Day 20 -- Enjoying Fresh Air...And Noticing

Slice of Life Story Challenge 2020 -- Day 20

"Enjoying Fresh Air...And Noticing"
***************************************

The rain finally stopped long enough for me to go out for a walk in my neighborhood this afternoon. I was thrilled --- a chance to get some fresh air and a little exercise, at last! While I was walking, I was noticing the sights and sounds. I would have taken the time to write my "noticings" down right then and there, but didn't have time to stop and take notes.... More rain was on the way! At least I had time to take a few pictures of the sights along the way, to help me remember.

Here are a few of the things I noticed:

Sounds:

The trickling of water running along gutters and into sewer drains

The shouts and laughter of a few children out playing in back yards

The soft tinkling and pinging of wind chimes blowing in the brisk wind

The high-pitched yaps and deep barks of dogs in the distance

The whooshing of wind blowing through tree branches

Sights:

Gloomy gray skies filled with clouds the color of ash and charcoal

My lovely purple crocuses, which are still blooming, though they're starting to fade fast

Neighborhood houses which I haven't noticed for a while, looking spiffy with new paint on the trims

Many puddles in streets and yards, and a few flooded ditches

My neighbor's yellow daffodils blooming

...A beautiful reminder that spring is finally here!

:-)

  1. You are ahead of us in terms of spring. And I've heard that paint stores are doing well with all of this craziness. I like the focus on senses in your piece. We can be there with you hearing, seeing, experiencing.

    1. Thanks, Melanie! I didn't hear that about the paint stores, but just this afternoon, one of my brothers told about picking up paint, curbside, at the paint store. He and my sister-in-law decided to change the color of one of the rooms in their house. I guess people want to be doing something while they're stuck inside. It does seem like a good idea!

  2. I wrote a similar Slice on Wednesday. I like that you categorized your senses and that you added pictures. I'm glad you got out today. It's the little things that help us keep our sanitly.

  5. Ok-here goes my third try at leaving a comment-I noticed the similar things on my walk. I saw white crocus, heard the peepers-a sure sign of Spring, and a new fence in a neighbor's yard.
    Cheers to walks and noticings!
