I work in a small middle school which has 11 teachers, 2 administrators, and one office staff person. Most of us, in the past several days, have received our 2nd dose of the long-awaited Covid-19 vaccination. While we were thrilled to be getting the vaccinations, we had heard that some people suffer reactions or side-effects for a couple of days after their 2nd doses. This turned out to be true for some of our staff, and has set off a chain of events that could be used as wonderful examples of cause-and-effect for our students. (Everyone might as well learn from the experience, right? Silver linings....) 

Here are seven cause-and-effect six-word stories that tell a little about the kind of day I had at school today:

Covid vaccinations completed ➔ Teachers having reactions

Teachers having reactions ➔Teachers out sick

Teachers out sick ➔ Several subs needed

Several subs needed ➔ Not enough subs

Not enough subs ➔ Staff doubling duties

Staff doubling duties ➔ Exhaustion setting in

Exhaustion setting in ➔ Early bedtime tonight!!!!!
